Different states in different states
Sometimes picking a title for this newsletter feels like coming up with away messages for AOL Instant Messenger in 2000. IYKYK, as the adults think the kids say. Sorry I missed a month. It was bound to happen. October is "Bandtober" in Texas: the busiest part of the marching band season, and with two kids in marching band, that was where a lot of my time and attention went. Also have been doing a good bit of traveling: OKC again for a few days, San Diego, Midland-Odessa, LA... So now I'm catching up.

Main news! The shows in Austin and Marfa were great! Everyone had fun. If you missed it, I'll be back. Not sure when I'll be back to Marfa, but I DO know when I'll be back in Austin: December 10 for the Supercolony album release! Supercolony is a doom metal band from Austin that I have had the privilege of working with in the studio several times now. We recorded an album of songs at Sonic Ranch in January and now it's ready to come out. It's a concept album about ant supercolonies, inspired by David Attenborough's incredible "Ant Mountain" documentary. I'll probably write a longer thing about the album and the process for my December email, but it's a very cool album that we put a ton of work into and everyone should give it a listen, even if heavier music isn't your thing. Details of that show as we get closer.
Other show news: I'm playing a benefit for El Pasoans Fighting Hunger at Star City Studios on November 22! I play around 6:30, if I remember correctly, so no excuses about bedtimes. The whole lineup is really strong, pulling from a wide variety of genres and featuring some incredible local artists, so I recommend coming to as much of it as you can. Music runs from 3PM-midnight, so can for as much as you can.
SUN NOV 22 - Star City (Benefit for El Pasoans Fighting Hunger) - El Paso, TX
THU DEC 10 - Knomad Bar (Supercolony release show) - Austin, TX
Travel and shows and the handful of studio projects I'm wrapping up or just starting have eaten most of my time, so no real progress on new music, but, as always, I have lots of old music you can listen to! Take care. See you next month.
